PROVERBS 5: FAITHFULNESS VS. UNFAITHFULNESS

"1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom; listen carefully to my wise counsel. 2 Then you will show discernment, and your lips will express what you’ve learned. 21 For the Lord sees clearly what a man does, examining every path he takes. 22 An evil man is held captive by his own sins; they are ropes that catch and hold him. 23 He will die for lack of self-control; he will be lost because of his great foolishness".

1 ) Temptation: What is it? How does it work?

temp·ta·tion/tempˈtāSHən/

A desire to do something, esp. something wrong or unwise.

An attraction to something or someone that we know is not right according to the Word of God or leader´s instruction.

HOW DOES IT WORK:

a) Temptation looks good, It seems something good at the beginning, but it leads to destruction at the end.

Prov 5:3-5: For the lips of an immoral woman are as sweet as honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil. 4But in the end she is as bitter as poison, as dangerous as a double-edged sword. 5Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave.

b) Temptation looks no dangerous: it seems something that we can handle easily.

1 Corinthians 10:12 : 12 If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall. 13 The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.

HOW TO AVOID TEMPTATION:

1) Praying and watching (spiritual eyes opened)

Mat 6:13 "Keep us clear of temptation, and save us from evil."

Mat 26:41 "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak."

2) Learning and declaring the Word of God:

Luke 4:12-13: 12 Jesus responded, “The Scriptures also say, ‘You must not test the Lord your God.’” 13 When the devil had finished tempting Jesus, he left him until the next opportunity came.

THE GREAT PROMISE TO THOSE WHO GET AWAY FROM TEMPTATION:

James 1:12:12God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
